Nowadays, it is the biggest public bank in Latin America. It has focused on commercial operations. However, it has not left aside its social side, since it is the centralizer of transactions such as FGST (Workers Warranty Fund), SIP (Social Integration Program) and Public Housing (PAR – Residential Leasing Program, credit card, retirement funds, among others). It is also paying agent of the Household Allowance, the program of supplementary income of the Federal Government and the Unemployment insurance. It also helps in the financing of public works, mainly on sanitation, the assignation of resources to states and towns. The Caixa is also an intermediator between the Federal  Government and the public sector in relation to fund giving. The Caixa’s headquarters are in Brazilia.
