Costco is the creator and world leader of the self-service clubs concept.

  • It is a wholesale and half wholesale self-service store with top quality products and competitive prices, where access is only posible by means of a membership.

HISTORY

  • The history of Costco starts when, in 1976, “Price Club”, creator of the “Self-service Club”, is born in San Diego California.
  • In 1983, in Seattle, Washington, the first branch of Costco is inaugurated and its founders are executives of the Price Club.
  • In 1992, thanks to the partnership between the Price Club and Controladora Comercial Mexicana, one of the most important self-service chains in Mexico, the first PRICE CLUB branch opened in our country, in Ciudad Satélite, in northern Mexico City.
  • In1993, COSTO and PRICE CLUB merge to be more competitive and offer more services and better prices to their associates, and they create PRICE COSTCO.
  • In 1995, COSTCO purchases stocks belonging to PRICE CLUB, therefore the commercial name changed to COSTCO for the whole chain, which, at that moment, had over 230 stores in different countries.
  • In Mexico PRICE CLUB started a fast expansion with the opening of branches in Mexico City and in different states in Mexico Republic. PRICECLUB changed its image slowly till it kept the name COSTCO.
  • At present, Costco has over 45 million associates all over the world in over 430 branches in the following countries:
  • USA, Canada, Puerto Rico, UK, Korea, Taiwan, Japan, and of course, Mexico.

Nowadays, COSTCO MEXICO has branches in almost of the states of the Republic and it keeps on growing to take Mexicans all the benefits it offers in relation to products and quality services at the best price.
